Barbara Wilets

Tom Larkins retired in 2021 after a 35-year legal career. Most recently, Tom served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Applied Materials Inc., where he was responsible for all legal affairs, worldwide intellectual property and global security—bringing to Applied a wealth of experience in mergers and acquisitions, global commercial transactions and operations, corporate finance, securities, and corporate governance.

Prior to joining Applied, Tom served as Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Deputy General Counsel of Honeywell International Inc. (formerly AlliedSignal). Prior to Honeywell, Tom served as Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of L.A.Gear. Before that he was in private practice (mergers and acquisitions, securities and general corporate) in Los Angeles for seven years.

Tom first became aware of Second Harvest of Silicon Valley when he joined Applied Materials at the time of the company’s annual fundraising drive. He was immediately struck by the severity of the food insecurity problem, the passionate persistence of the Second Harvest team in addressing it, and the intense enthusiasm of the Applied community in supporting the cause. He became an active executive leader of Applied’s fundraising efforts and always viewed the company’s Helping Hands Day at Second Harvest as one of the highlights of his year. Tom has remained a committed supporter of Second Harvest in his retirement.

Tom is also a member of the Board of Directors of Law Foundation of Silicon Valley (Chair of Nom Gov Committee and member of the Executive Committee; former member of Finance Committee); Montalvo Arts Center (Finance and Audience Development Committees); and he is former Chair of USC Gould School of Law’s Board of Councilors.

Tom received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of Southern California. He is a novice golfer, a home vineyard owner of merlot vines, a travel enthusiast, a curator of selections of TV shows, movies and books, and a passionate fan of Philadelphia and Stanford teams.
